Within the ACT it is an offence to:
- Possess a prohibited drug
- Administer a prohibited drug to yourself or somebody else
If found guilty of possession, you may incur a maximum penalty of a fine of up to $5,000 and/or imprisonment of up to two years.
Manufacture/Trafficking
It is an offence to manufacture or traffic amphetamines, cocaine or MDMA in the ACT. It is also an offence to possess, traffic or manufacture many of the precursor chemicals required in the production of these drugs.
Penalties
Penalties regarding the possession, manufacture and trafficking of amphetamines, cocaine or MDMA are determined by the quantity of the drug involved. There is also an assumption under ACT law that if you are found in possession of 2 grams or more of cocaine or amphetamines or 0.25 grams of MDMA or more then you intended to supply the drug.
